What makes different colors of gold?

Is white gold REALLY gold? What makes it different from yellow gold? What is rose gold?

Answer:
The different colors of gold depends on the 'mixture' of other metals to give it its final color and hardness.

white gold is a mixture of gold and nickel, or silver or palladium
yellow gold is more on the pure end of gold which is 24K
rose gold is a mixture of gold and copper
Gold mixed with other metals can create gold alloys that are colored. add iron = blue, add copper = red, add aluminium = purple, platinum = white.
Other metals mixed with the gold, such as silver.
The pressence of the metal chosen to be amalgamated with it...for instance copper will give to it, a reddish color, meanwhile, platinum nay give a silver bright coloration, and so on.
WHITE GOLD, is in reality, platinum sometimes amalgamated with small amounts of gold.
Its not really gold inthe metallic sense of the word---
