Which of the following has the largest mass?

A. 5.0 mol H2o
B. 3.5 mol NH3
C. 8.0 mol C
D. 6.0 mol C2H2

Answer:
H2O ... 2+16 ... 18*5 = 90
NH3 ... 14+3 ... 17*3.5 = 59.5
C ... 12 ... 12*8 = 96
C2H2 ... 24+2 ... 26*6 = 156

Answer is D
Mass = no of moles x molecular weight of compound

Now work out the molecular weights for , H2O, NH3, C and C2H2 and sub in the formula above
6 moles of acetylene has the largest mass, 136 grams. The water, at 90 grams is second.
