Why zinc sulfide doped with cupper mostly used?

This'question is used to my project work

Answer:
Copper doped zinc sulfide (ZnS:Cu) is used in electroluminescent panels. generally the use is as a substitute for phosphor (not as toxic and above all-cheap, and with the possibility to modify color) in many applications, from cathode ray tubes through x-ray screens to glow-in-the-dark products. the addition of an activator makes the emission more stable and last longer, and depending on the activator, u can get different colors of glowing (Ag gives blueish, for example).
