Conversion factors?

Write and equation that states the relationship between the two given units, and then write the conversion factor (or conversion factors) that could be used to convert the first unit to the second. Example: Millimeters and meters are related by the equation 1000mm = 1m. The conversion factor 1m/1000mm should be used.
a. grams and milligrams
b. nanometers and meters
c. kilograms and grams
d. liters and milliliters
e. megahertz and hertz

I got these answers:
a. 1g=1000mg; 1000mg/1g
b. 1nm=0.000000001m; 0.000000001m/1nm
c. 1kg=0.001g; 0.001g/1kg
d. 1L=1000mL; 1000mL/1L
e. 1MHz=1000000Hz; 1000000Hz/1MHz

My question is, does is matter which way they are written. For instance, could I say:
a. 0.001g=1mg; 1mg/0.001g
b. 1000000000nm=1m; 1m/100000000nm
c. 1000kg=1g; 1g/1000kg
d. 0.001L= 1mL; 1mL/0.001L
e. 0.000001MHz=1Hz; 1Hz/0.000001MHz

I'm just not sure which way is right or if my conversion factor are written correctly. Thanks for your help!

Whenever you convert one unit to another, you should use the factor-label method. All this means is that you multiple the GIVEN by a conversion factor (which is a fraction form of the equation that states the relationship between the two units)

Ex. Convert 3.0 inches to cm

Step 1...Write the 2 units in the form of an equation:
1 inch = 2.54 cm or
2.54 cm= 1 inch
(I got this from the inside of a marble NB)

Step 2: Write the given
3.0 in

Step 3: Make a fraction out of the equations in step 1. You can have either:
1 inch/ 2.54 cm OR 2.54 cm/ 1inch

Step 4: Multiply the GIVEN by the fraction above that will cause the unwanted unit to cancel out and the wanted unit to remain.
3.0 in x 2.54cm/ 1 in = 7.62 cm (inches cancel out because they are on the top and on bottom)

To answer your question, YES it does matter which goes on top and which goes on bottom.
As a rule of thumb, put the UNWANTED unit on the bottom and the WANTED unit on the top.

It doesn't matter if A=B or B=A, they are equal. We usually use the exponential system to keep from writing all those zeros. For example, 1 nanometer(nm) is equal to 1x10 to the minus 9 meters(m). The answers you got are correct. Your transcription in c is incorrect--1000g=1Kg or 1Kg/1000g., as well as the typo in your opening statement. I'm sure you meant to say "Write an equation...".
