Polarity of molecules?
I'm doing a lab report for my chemistry class and i'm totally stumped on four molecules. i can't figure out the polarity of TeCl6, PF5, [NO2]- and H2O ... anyone have any tips?
Answer:
TeCl6 and PF5 should be fairly symmetrical and so be nonpolar. NO2- and H2O are polarized and nonsymmetrical.
Draw the Lewis structures, and from those, determine the molecular and electronic geometries.
