Oxidation/Reduction Question?

In the following reaction what is:

1. the reactant that is reduced
2. the reactant that is oxidized
3. the oxidizing agent
4. the reducing agent

2 Na (s) + Cl2 (g) --> 2NaCl (s)

Answer:
Remember OILRIG.

Oxidation is loss (of electrons)
Reduction is gain (of electrons)

then the reducing agent is usually the thing that is oxidized and the oxidizing agent is the thing that is usually reduced .

Na+ becomes Na (gains electron so it is being reduced, etc)
hey, thanks for asking this question..i also wanna know
The oxidized reagent increases its valance
The reduced reagent decreases its valence
The oxidizing agent is reduced
The reducing agent is oxidized
Now you should be able to answer this yourself.
1 . Na is reduced.
2. Cl2 is oxidised.
3. the oxidising agent is Cl2.
4. the reducing agent is Na ions .
1. the reactant that is reduced Cl2
2. the reactant that is oxidized Na
3. the oxidizing agent Cl2
4. the reducing agent Na
