For better understanding i placed the question below. maths?

a boat carrying illegal drugs leaves a port and travels @63km/h.a coast guard cutter leaves the port 24 min. later &travels @75km/h in pursuit of the boat.find the times each has travelled when the cutter overtakes the boat with drugs

Answer:
Drug boat speed - v1
Coast guard boat speed - v2
time - t

v1t = v2(t - (24/60))
v1t = v2t - v2(24/60)
v1t - v2t = -v2(24/60)
(v1 - v2)t = -v2(24/60)
t = [-v2(24/60)] / [v1 - v2]

t = [-75(24/60)] / [63 - 75]
t = 2.5 hours

Drug boat - 2 hours 30 minutes
Coast Guard boat - 2 hours 6 minutes
24 minutes is 0.4 hours
so in .4 hours the boat travels 63 x .4 = 25.2 km
The c.g. is going 12 km/hr faster, so it will catch them after 25.2 km / 12 km/hr = 2.1 hr

In 2.1 hr the c.g. goes 2.1 x 75 km/hr = 157.5 km

To double check, the boat goes 2.5 hr x 63 km/hr = 157.5 km which is what you would expect.
