Structural formula. I don't understand. Can someone explain?
Answer:
Any compound has the suffix (ane) , so it is alkane(1 bond)
Then it is hex and hex means six.
Concerning the formula:
C6H14
You must take care if it is 2,3 hexane because at that time
You must to return to the IUPAC numbering to make sure of the formula.
Solve this: draw heptane and octane
Hept=7 carbons
Oct=8 carbons
it is too easy
Draw it in the same way. If you can't, ask your teacher.
thats very simple. Any name ending with -ane has only single bonds. -ene has at least one double bond, etc. Hex means 6, so there are six carbon atoms total. The structure is very simple to draw. You should be able to figure it out.
