Checking Purity?

How do you check the purity of inorganic compounds that decompose when heated? For example, magnesium sulphate

Thanks

Answer:
Since it's inorganic you may have to go off the temperature at which it decomposes. If it didn't, melting point would still be the way to go though it'd be difficult perform on salts in a household environment... By the way, it probably shouldn't decompose before it's listed melting point of 1124 deg. Celsius if it's pure.
