Abestos was scattered all over my building during NYC explosion. How long does asbestos stay in the area/air?
Answer:
Asbestos is actually a fine particulate that can remain in the air/area depending on air currents, air density, ventilation in a building, air humidity or "dew point", and whichever season it happens to be. As long as the asbestos is not disturbed or moved from it's resting place, and you have a asbestos removal contingency in place, you really don't have much to worry about.
Go to work, then get a lawyer... you're rich!! I'm jealous.
I don't know exactly what you mean by scattered. A good air conditioning system with a HEPA filter should remove it from the air, and what has settled out can be removed by vacuum.
I think you should bring it to the attention of your boss and get his answer. DON'T TAKE IT UPON YOURSELF TO STAY OUT unless you have the time to burn; if your boss says work, you have to bear the consequences of declining. You can always wear a mask to work or consult a litigious lawyer.
