Properties of acidity/alkalinity of toothpaste??

is toothpaste alkaline or acidic?? then why is toothpaste acidic of alkaline??then must be a purpose for that right...

Answer:
toothpaste is basic in nature or alkaline. acid is produced in the mouth due to degredation of sugar and food particles which are left in mouth after eating. the amount of acid produced is high when we eat sweets or sugary food. the saliva produced in the mouth by the salivary glands is alkaline and partially neutralizes the acid produced in the mouth. however, the excess acid has to be removed by cleaning the teeth with a good quality tooth paste. these toothpastes are alkaline in nature and neutralize the excess acid present in the mouth. thus toothpastes are not acaidic but alkaline to act upon the acids of our mouth which causes tooth decay.
