What is BLEVE?
Answer:
BLEVE is an acronym for "boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion". This is a type of explosion that can occur when a vessel containing a pressurized liquid is ruptured. Such explosions can be extremely hazardous. When the liquid is water, the explosion is usually called a steam explosion. The acronym is sometimes sardonically interpreted as "Blast Leveling Everything Very Effectively."

boiling liquid expanding vapour explosion
BLEVE means...
Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapour Explosion.
This happens when a tank of a volatile, combustible Liquid Gas like LPG, is involved in a fire or extreme heat, its Vapour pressure builds up to beyond the pressure limit of the vessel. The vessel explodes, the high temperature liquid escapes all at once and immediately expands by more than 600 times its liquid volume. This ignites in a huge explosion which will cause wide-spread destruction, fire, and possible deaths and injury covering a very large area.
