Is potassium hydroxide produced when bananas decay?

When bananas get overripe they can begin to burn the throat. Maybe someone will know if such a reaction is occurring.

PS. To extend the holding time of bananas, place them in a plastic bag, squeeze out the air, and seal it shut. Then place them in the refrigerator. This way they will last several times longer without turning brown. The flavor is preserved as well. (I discovered this method.)

Answer:
Never heard about the potassium hydroxide, but overripe bananas produce some aldehydes as well as ethanol alcohol, which can burn the back of your throat...
most probably yes,cz the banana contains alot of potassium in it
More than likely, you are wrong on both counts.

Never heard any of these things before ! And they do not make sense.
