Can you improve alcohol by running it through a water filter several times?

Actually I have had some success from this with cheap vodka. Using a charcoal water filter (some are ceramic and filter in a different way), just run it trough several times and it will help some.
Effectively cheaper alcohols are just less pure, so doing this will help to remove some of those impurities. You won't make Grey Goose out of a $5 bottle of vodka or anything like that, but there will be a discernible difference if you're willing to wait for it to filter.

(I am assuming in all of this that you're talking about a liquor containing only ethanol for consumption and not something like methanol in a lab environment)
