How is hydrogen isolated and purified?

I need to know how to obtain hydrogen as a pure element instead of a by-product from a reaction. Thanks a lot!

Answer:
1- electrolysis of water
2- fraction distillation of water

there are othe ways too but not sue about them thts why not stating
fractional distillation will do...

:-)
The easiest way is, of course, through electrolysis of water. Check out the links below. The Wikipedia link explains the concepts and large-scale use of electrolysis. The Theodore Gray page, meanwhile, teaches you how to generate "homemade" hydrogen using common items at the house,

Note that hydrogen is the simplest of all the elements on earth. Therefore, you cannot really "make" hydrogen, because it already exists as such. What's difficult is how to extract it from the earth as pure hydrogen. That is why scientists have resorted to breaking down substances (such as water) into simpler substances to produce hydrogen.
You need to remove oxygen from water or nitrogen from ammonia and purify the hydrogen by molecular sieves, liquifaction etc.
