What's a good chemical to put on some metal to indicate if there's any iron in it?

What will the indication be?

I can scrap the metal when I'm done.

Answer:
I'd say just send it on over to me and i'll scan it with my EDS.
(not all iron is magnetic) theres ferritic(magnetic) and austenitic (non magnetic) . And other metals are magnetic as well.
