Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of it's bottle?

Answer:
If you are not trying to stick the inside of the tube to something else, does it really matter, LOL

But of course as you and everybody else knows, the glue requires contact with air to set.

Edit:- fact is, all the people who said it needs oxygen to harden are completely wrong, and those who said it needs air are in fact correct. Without getting too technical, as a chemist I can tell you that in fact it is oxygen inside the tube that prevents the glue from sticking to the tube. This is the complete opposite of what most have said. (Also not a chemical lining that was also suggested.) The hardening process is dependant upon a reaction with moisture, and as we all know air contains moisture. So it is the oxygen in the tube that prevents sticking to the side of the tube, and moisture in the atmosphere, or air, that causes the hardening reaction. So there, na na na.....

Forgot to mention, you know with a tube of super glue at some time during use you always get a fart of air with no glue coming out, and you think it wasn't full and you got ripped off. No, that's just some of the oxygen coming out that was put in to prevent it sticking to the side of the tube. It needs moisture to set, oxygen prevents solidification of the chemicals in glue.
because it is not exposed to air, it sticks when it dries.
Because the bottle is air-tight as long as you keep it shut. If you leave it open long enough, it will all clump together.
congratulations. this is the 22nd time this has been asked.

ive not answered it before. i just get tired of seeing the same unoriginal questions constantly.
it does. think about the hole the glue comes out of. it always gets messy.
Needs air to harden.
Yes ... that is true the bottle it comes in is air tight so hence it doesnt stick to the inside of the bottle. I have actualli experimented this (not with intension but it happened) i left the lid a little open without knowing and left the bottle on my desk after a couple of weeks i needed it and got it and it was all stuck to the end of the bottle ... amazing but i hope it answers your question hehe...
With Love...x
thats such a good question - I like the way your thinking!
The molecules of the bottle (glass) do not attract the glue molecules nor cause them to 'cure' (harden). Some glues require air or moisture or evaporation or a fixer to cure. The bottle material has to be compatible with the product being sold.
needs air to harden
It's all to do with the type of plastic and the type of glue. The manufacturer of the glue will specifically choose a bottle made of plastic that will not chemically interact with the chemistry of the glue. For the glue to react the chemistry of the substrate (the bottle) and the glue need to be compatible. Heavy duty glues tend to come in two parts (epoxy and amine) that will start to react with each other when mixed, but will also bind to the -OH groups on plastic/wood/metal etc.

Most craft glues don't need to be mixed with a second component and need air and/or moisture to cure (chemically react). Leaving the top off the bottle may cause it to stick to the bottle, but the binding will probably never be very strong due to the incompatible chemistries of the bottle and the glue.
