Organic Chemistry Catching Up?
Now I have to do a lot of work to catch up, and I really need an A on this course.
What are efficient ways of catching up? I certainly can't and don't want to read all the pages in the textbook. Thx.

What type of exams are given? Are they ones created by the professor or is the one that's the 'standard' one given by the American Chemical Society (or whatever the heck the organization is called). If its one given by the prof, mainly study your class lecture notes - if you don't have good ones, find someone in your class who does and is willing to share. Most profs cover all the most important topics in their lectures.
If the exams are the 'standard' ones, cover the notes a bit but also just look at the primary concepts of each chapter without having to worry about much detail.
When I took Organic I averaged about a 60% or so on exams that the prof created (thankfully the class was on a curve), but when it came time for the standard exam at the end - I got about a 97% on it.

I fear that reviewing the textbook, and your notes, for an hour a night (or, rather, an additional hour each night) is probably the only way to do it.

Welcome to my preferred study strategy! In college I always waited anyway until the last few nights before an examine because anything I studied a few weeks, or months for that matter, was never remembered anyway!
Go to the bookstore and get a summary review book. Go through it for like 5 hours a night 3 night before-that should do it! Those books focus on the practice problems and what you need to know to pass the exam rather than all the filler!
Also, on my campus this guy had his own private "notes" company where her paid students for all the past semester notes and exams! I could buy them for like 5 bucks and just review those and it worked great!!
I studied engineering in Germany a year during my sophomore year and this is how Europeans test for stuff always! They really don't do homework or anything-just a big final at the end of the year! I got hooked on that method! Good luck!
Also, some tips-don't jerk it during those days! it will lesson your motivation; don't talk to your women if you have one; and don't sleep too long (5-6hrs a night)-drink lots of black tea too-it will pep you up without the comedown that lots of coffee has!
Get very friendly with your textbook. Read it, and do as many problems as you can. The only way to learn organic chem effectively is to *do* it. If you can (legally!) get hold of old exams, go through them and do all the problems. Another good option would be to seek out a tutor who can help you get a good grasp of the fundamentals without having to hash it all out on your own. Good luck.
I always got A's O-chem by praying for a magical pony to come and do my tests for me. It works every time and it sure beats actually learning anything to get your grade!
