I need help with 3 things please, my GCSE is coming up and im confused!
The combustion of pentane in a limited supply of air gives carbon monoxide.
1. what is the symobl for carbon monoxide?
2. does it make anything else, eg water?
3. how can i balance it:
pentane (C5H12) + oxygen (O2) > ?

Answer:
1. CO
2. CO + H2O
3. 2C5H12 + 11O2 -> 10CO + 12H2O
1. CO
2. Yes H2O (water)

3. C5H12 + 5.5O2 >> 5CO + 6H2O

or 2C5H12 + 11O2 >> 10CO + 12H2O
