I really need to know how to find out the valence for chemical formulas, I have an exam tomorrow and I really dont know how to actually get the numbers
like for H2O, how do you find out the numbers used?!

You look at the oxidation state of the element by looking at what column it is on the periodic table Oxygen is row six, so it wants two electrons. Hydrogen is on the first column, it gives up one electron each.
