What is the lab grade HNO3 solution.?

it is required material in the passivation testing.

Answer:
Varies,

our lab provide 36M
One of my friends' lab provide 24M
there are also some labs that provide 12M or 6M
Are you asking for a supplier or for a strength?

12M typically, for Chem labs.

Supplier: Aldrich is always good.
it is supposed to mean that nitric acid that is purchased for lab applications. not for industrial applications. for example there are some solutions for hplc use they are called hplc grade the water they are prepared or the solutions they are prepared are extra pure so not to harm hplc (high pressured liquid chromotography) device. lab grade is the grade that u purchased from componies selling lab. chemicals i think.

the procedure must specify the molarity of the nitric acid that u r going to use try to search for another reference for the passivation test to confirm ur present procedure. (i am using nitric acid in lab but i can not remember its concentration now. the conc. of available nitric acids may differ)
