I can't seem to get these 2 answered?

The question asked me to find which metal is oxidized and which reduces but I am drawing blanks with these

2Ag+(aq) + Fe(s) ---> Fe 2+(aq) + 2 Ag(s)

NiSO4(aq) + Mg(s) ---> MgSO4(aq) + Ni(s)

Answer:
Fe is oxidized, losing 2 electrons.
Ag is reduced gaining 1 electron

Mg is oxidized, losing 2 electrons
Ni is reduced gaining 2 electrons
Iron gets oxidized because it loses electrons.

Magnesium gets oxidized for the same reason
Ag -reduced (passes from +1 to 0)
Fe-oxidized (passes from 0 to +2)

Ni reduced (passes from +2 to 0)
Mg oxidized (passes drom 0 to +2)

Remember: To oxidize is to increase the oxidation state
To reduce is to decrease the oxidation state.

When an element is on its elementary form has a oxidation state of 0.
