Could sum1 please enumerate the factors affecting the rates of reaction & state their effects? please...?
Answer:
factors are:
1. nature of the reactants
2. concentration (the higher the concentration, the faster the reaction rate)
3. temperature ( the higher the temp., the faster the rxn rate)
4. pressure( high pressure, inc's the rxn rate)
5. catalyst (no effect)
6. particle size (the smaller the particle size, the faster the rxn rate)
wikipedia has an entire heading on this called factors, check it out
it can be too wide subject to describe it here i also recommend u to have a look at the wikipedia
the answerer beforem mine listed some factors that can be true but not exactly all of them that answer is not good. for example presence of catalysts speeds up the reaction rate by lowering the activation energy. or pressure does not have an effect on every situation.
lets have a look at reaction rate expression:
k.Ca^x.Cb^y
k= ko.e^(-Ea/RT)
so it depends on concetration and temperature at the first look but when u r talkin about reversible reactions things may change.
it is a lecture topic that can not be summurized well here
