Extraction?.?

1. What are the indications of extraction?..

Answer:
Say you have a solution that is slightly yellow ( aqueous ), and you extract is three times with ether.

1) In the first ether extraction the ether layer is VERY yellow - the aqueous layer looks about the same.

2) In the second ether extraction the ether layer looks less yellow and the aqueous layer looks more pale.

3) In the third ether extraction the ether layer is almost colorless and the aqueous layer layer is almost clear.

In this you can see that you have extracted the material out of the aqueous layer with three successive ether extractions.

Is this what you are asking?
What kind of extraction are you asking about? There are several different types.

Basically, an extraction is a process by which you take advantage of various chemical and physical properties to separate a mixture.

Some examples are; boiling points (distillation), acid/base (acid/base extraction), and molecular weights (column chromatography)
