How do you think the economy isreally doing , in the US ?

Answer:
The economy is doing well right now. Employment is high, earnings are high, and the stock market keeps going up. However, it is kind of like walking on a lake in the spring, the ice is still solid, but it is getting thinner everyday. If we do not do something soon we will be talking about how bad the economy is. The cost of most everything is going up, with much of this caused by energy related costs. We are importing more and more products everyday; thus, sending sending more money out of the country. What products we do produce are being done so largely by imported labor. This can not continue on for an indefinite period. the dollar continues to lose value, and we are heavily in debt with China owning a very large portion of that debt. All the signs are there, but no one seems to want to address them, especially our political "leaders" - which might be a good thing because many of their policies got us to this point.
i think we could clean it up beacuse it isn't as great as it could be
I keep hearing the experts talking about numbers (inlation, consumer price index, unemployment) that are either just fine or, at least, better than expected.
Yet, the economy doesn't feel all that good to me. retail prices have infalted in the last year or so and my customers don't have a whole lot of cash to spend.
Sometimes I wonder if we are not victims of a disinformation campaign
Our economy? It's a joke to listen to any government official talk about it, as the only thing getting better about a politician's economy is the thickness of his/her wallet. The general public has more, better information on the topic and the majority will say that it sucks. Economy falls back to the supliers. In that they deem the value of services/goods as to what ever they can squeeze out of the public. Case in point Gasoline. Alabama regular gas on average 2.74 this week. Indianapolis Indiana 3.30 this week and forget about California! Same way with property rentals. Forget about getting decent renters in your building. If your in a collage town rent for 3 times it's worth, right? It's all about greed and how much can I get. Then there are the "GODS" of the industries who think that they're wages of millions a year are not enough, so what do some do? Well you know the answer to that one. Does EMRON ring a bell? God forbid any of us out here try to get ahead by investing. Its risky to begin with, but to think that some person or persons may very well at some point be living well in parts unknown with our lost money? How about the Bush war? Started on false reasoning and has gotten to the point where to pull out would cost us even more at this time. All for a war that in the end will serve no purpose over there. Ask any true average american what he/she is thinking the most about on a regular basis and the answer will be something like... Wandering how I will pay for my bills. Sad but true. This is a sore topic for me. Sorry for venting in your space, but thanks for allowing me the time.
30,000 laid off @ Ford is a big number. Funny that's the first time I saw that major news story, could it be somebody or group doesn't want to spread this news?
It looks like to me prices on about everything are going up much faster than incomes, in my area.
We're lucky because we have a small garden & grapes & fruit trees. I also sell firewood from our own place.
I feel self suffiency is very important.
