Why are the poorest people always the best dressed?
Answer:
That's possibly why they are poor. I knew a woman with 2 kids, 2 and 4, and she wanted them dressed in FUBU, Echo, and Sean Jean so they ate crappy food, drive a cruddy car, and she couldn't afford a nice apartment-but her kids were dressed like little punks so they were cool.
Poor people have little to be happy about. By dressing well it takes their minds off their problems and they look like something they are not! It's a matter of pride!
i guess they picked up the designer clothings that have been thrown away
Where do you live?
thats true alot- i know very rich people who wear old cotton clothes -sometimes wit holes in them and I would rather be rich then dress nice-
maybe that's why they're poor...they spend all their money on nice clothes!
Excuse me??? I don't think so.
I dont know any poor person who dresses nice!
They shop at the Goodwill where rich idiots turn in evening gowns and Gucci knockoffs, thinking that poor people will actually have a use for that stuff.
the poor have the need for personal style they know who they are it is the rich who feel the need to copy...
I grew up in poor neighbourhood in the industrialized wealthy country of Canada... my poorer neighbours sure as heck didn't wear nice clothes. Today it is much the same.
The poorest people are generally in sub-saharan Africa... I know there are no fashion divas there.
I reject your reality and substitute my own...
If you're asking why 'some' poorer people wear nice clothes, maybe it's escapism from their crappy reality, maybe they figure if they're going to jail for shoplifting, they might as well get thrown in for something worthwhile, maybe it's just misplaced priorities... same thing can be said about cigs and alcohol consumption... despair and poverty can lead to poor choices.
Peace
Discerning charity shop shopping.
Rich people don't have to show that they rich. Thats how you can tell the one's that don;t have money. They're more flashy.
Because Paris Hilton sets the bar so low.
Not to criticize, but rather to emphasize facts; “The poorest” people are definitely NOT “always” the “best dressed.”
It is true that at social events, we see some poor people who make more effort to dress up for those events.
Perhaps the question could be more accurately stated:
Why do we often see poor minorities dressed up for social events?
One answer is; their need for validation.
When a poor person has little material wealth to show, clothing and jewelry is the most affordable gateway to superficial recognition.
Another is; Celebration of the “special” event.
Poor people do not have the same access to fancy dinners, travel, music events or expensive parties. As such, they embrace the event with more enthusiasm than the jaded wealthy.
Finally; Some people are poor BECAUSE they focus on superficial things.
If a person lacks the insight or education to see how small expenses add up and strip long term wealth opportunities, (through disciplined investment) he is more likely to be the type who is attracted to superficial displays. Some poor people are poor because they waste money on many small short-term gratifications, rather than investing for long-term compound interest.
As with any social phenomenon, ‘a correlation’ is not always ‘a cause.’
Spending money on clothing and jewelry does not indicate that they are bad or stupid. It’s just another indication of the educational opportunities they don’t receive.
Most wealthy people are brought up thinking about money and how to make it grow.
Poor people are brought up thinking about working, not investing. They are constantly bombarded with targeted advertising and superficial illusions. As such, they are much more likely to spend on temporary satisfactions that drain opportunities. They live for the moment, not the future, because they’ve been indoctrinated to see no future.
So...
Sometimes… it is all they have to feel good about themselves.
Sometimes, it shows celebration for an uncommon and therefore appreciated event.
Sometimes it is indicative of an endemic problem that is not just a correlation, but an actual cause of poverty.
Intuitively, most people recognize these phenomena, even without this critical analysis. That is why some people ridicule the ostentatious clothing and tastes of minorities.
Some who notice and analyze this phenomenon can have humanistic understanding.
We CAN understand and accept the phenomenon without prejudice.
Those who only criticize, are just low-grade bigots.
Food shelter and clothing are the essentials that everybody needs to survive. The same poor person may not have a car,a phone or cable T.V. but they are surviving in this crazy world and that other stuff doesn't make a hill of beans. Bravo for them I salute them and more power to them.
maybe it reflects your tastes in clothing that you believe the poor to be better dressed then the rich.
ps that is not a rip I mean that literally
well i havent seen a bum with gold rings, and wearing fine suits or dresses because they are the poorest, they have nothing at all to show off it. unless you are talking about people who wanna look rich but end up paying for it. as for how often you see people dressed is another thing, i dress in a nice 500 dollar suit for interviews, not on a regular basis only for interviews. call me rich, well ill laugh with you.
