Why is the cost of food rising?

Answer:
As a whole inflation is the correct answer, but oil can be blamed for part of it. The use of corn in ethanol has more than doubled the price of corn in the last 5-6 years, and corn is used in quite a few food products.
Inflation. The price of practically everything is going up because there is too much currency in circulation--years of low interest rates have motivated people to borrow and spend, the governmnent is spending boukou bucks on the war, etc.
IT IS PLAIN AND SIMPLE THE PRICE OF FOOD HAS TO DO WITH LABOR COST AND THE PRICE OF FUEL TO GET IT TO THE MARKET TRUCK DRIVERS HAS EXPENSES TOO LET ALONE THE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS IN FUEL COSTS
Inflation starts with one item and then pushes the rest to rise. Gas prices effect processing and delivery. When the cost rises to transport and produce, the inflation is passed onto the consumer.
