If you are not familiar with the linear regression model, you can construct a simple model using Excel.
1. Obtain a data series on seasonally-adjusted, quarterly GDP
2. Use the data to construct the quarterly growth of GDP for each quarter.
3. Plot each quarter's data against the previous quarter's data
4. The graph will show you the relationship between any current value and the previous value, which is what you want to forecast GDP
5. You can either draw a straight line through the data, or use the linear regression function in Excel.
If you have lots of math and computer experience , you could use E-Views to construct a forecasting model.
