What type of economy are economies today?

Answer:
Most countries around the world have market economies. These allow buyers and sellers to decide market prices and quantities produced. Governments help regulate the markets and often participate in and organize certain markets.
Most developed nations try to limit government involvement in the economy although there is no 'pure' market economy.

Another type of economy is the command economy. This is an economy where governments control production and demand. They try to estimate needs (and wants) of the citizens of the country, set prices and quantities produced. This type of economy was used by communist countries (still used by a few countries like Cuba).
