Sorry neighbors but the Canadian economy is booming while the US wallows around in massive debt. Canada is creating jobs while the US is outsourcing its jobs. Economists say the Canadian dollar will surpass the US dollar later this year.
Why don't you just drop that little fence and let us take over. We'll even toss in free health care!

I want to answer this question with my opinion I just hope it doesn't upset anyone, sorry if it does.
I'm not sure Canada will ever surpass the US for 2 reasons, the first is that with the presidential election looming they will undoubtedly have a better president this time around that will probably be able to turn it around after he or she undoes what Bush did in his 2 terms. And second, even if that didn't happen, the US has a better military than we do and they could just come over here and take over. And don't say that will never happen, for some reason some people in power in the US like to do stuff like that and even if we are their neighbours they think we are inferior and would do what they could to prove that even if it requires military occupation.
On a side note, I am proud to be Canadian and am truly ecstatic to see that we are doing so well.
You must be joking. Canada has a small population and its income per capita is significantly less than the US.
On an income per head basis neither country is a world leader.
There is no such thing as free healthcare.
Someone is paying for it.
In the US capitalist market, you have everyone paying for it if they want it. The richer you are, the better coverage you can get.
In the Candian socialist system, everyone pays for it. The rich people pay for the poor people to have better medical care than they can afford, and poor people get more than they pay for...but everyone pays.

Well, the only reason it works is that your population is so small that the drug companies have written off Canada as a profit market. They are making up what they should have made through sales in the US. The drug companies have already said that if Canada starts to provide drugs to US citizens, that they will stop selling in your market.

The USA has 9 times Canada's population, so just in sheer numbers, Canada can't catch up. Even if the USA's economy were to implode for some reason, due to the nature of the two countries' close economic ties, Canada's economy would also be dragged down.
And I agree with a couple of the other respondents -- there is no such thing as free health care, and the only reason Canada has access to cheap medicine is that the country is free-riding off the Americans. (This isn't meant as a "Blame Canada" statement, the rest of the world does the same thing.)

However the economy is unpredictable, it can boom or crash in an instant. I believe China will rise to the top. Every country has it's advantages and disadvantages. Canada has been rated in the top 10 best countries in the world to live in for almost 15 years now. Passed the U.S. Every way you look at it, how does one define who is number 1 with such a diverse and wide spread inventory of opinions.
