Why does Japan have such a large GDP?

Why does Japan have such a large GDP? I need this quickly, as I have run out of ideas for my essay (which has to be 4000 words and I have done 3812 words so not much is needed!)

Answer:
Population, along with a modern level of economic development. There is nothing unusual about the size of its GDP. It has the second largest economy (behind the US) simply because, of all the world's DEVELOPED nations, it has the second largest population, at 127 million.

All the developed nations of the world are roughly in the same category in terms of productivity, or GDP per person (having much more income per capita than developing nations such as China and India). Therefore, each country's total GDP is mostly a function of its population.

Of developed countries, US has by far the largest population & economy. Japan is number two. And Japan in turn is much more populous than such other developed nations as Germany, France, and the UK, and so has larger GDP.

The industriousness of its people and skillfull use of its limited resources; the drive to produce better and more useful products that the world wants and buys; and the dedication of its culture to eduation and proper child rearing. You come up with the rest.
