How does mattel contribute to "the race to the bottom"??

Answer:
As an MNC they have many manufacturing plants located in foreign countries. Foreign countries realize that the price of labor will affect where Mattel decides to send FDI. In order to attract and/or retain FDI, countries will progressively lower labor standards (wages, health protection, etc) so they can stay competitive and offer the cheapest labor.
