If Paris Hilton was any other "regular" person, she would be in jail right now. Are we obsessed with celebs?

Answer:
While I mostly agree with you here, I cant completely. A judge has the right and ability to tell a person that they need to report to a facility on a specific date to serve their time. For minor infractions, and yes driving on a revoked license and even drunk driving are usually considered minor, this is a common practice. If she had done something major and had been convicted of it, she'd have been in jail immediately.

Her appeal was dropped today though, so she has accepted that she's doing the 45 days. Assuming they dont add on more for pot smoking on probation.
no but we are obsessed with money.she had enough to pay someone off.
of course we are obsessed with celebrities (we being the majority of the american population). Just look around at what influence they have on "us"
yes and you are right !
Yes but that rich Bit*h only has to do half the time and not in general public jail!!

I guess if you have money and are a celeb you can buy almost anything!!
As I said yesterday...I have a favorite quote (from the TV show Dharma and Greg)..and I paraphrase here..."dah-ling..I have enough money to commit at least ONE murder and get away with it"...
Yes, she would be in jail. Yes, there is a segment of the population that is obsessed with celebrity. If we only cared as much for something that mattered.
yes, i agree with u, this world is like that unfair.
Any "regular" person, given the funds and good representation, would be able to stay out of jail pending an appeal. Bail may or may not, depending on the judge, be required but I'm pretty sure she could afford it:) What disturbs me is the 1/2 reduction based on "good behavior" she has received. Good behavior under what oversight? And her time will be spent in a Federal "hotel" for influential persons. It is all about the money, she stands to learn absolutely nothing from this so called penalty.
We sure are, I have more respect for writers, scientist, musicians, chess players, all these celebs do is act out something that someone else has written, and we treat them as if they are so special and great, sorry but I never felt that way, most of them are nothing but spoiled brats, and because we treat them like they are god's they think they are !!Your average woman or man would look just as good as any of them if we spent the time that they do on primping, and getting made up by the best, and spending fortunes on clothes. No thanks, if I were to be famous, I'd rather be famous for something more intelligent. As for Paris she should be in jail just like anyone else who did what she did, but no she's a princess, and her parents have more money then they know what to do with. Just look at what Paris spends her money on there are people starving and she's spending god knows how much on diamonds for her dog !!!! P. S. What has she really done? A movie, and that stupid show she had, that to me made fun of poor people, all that show did was show how spoiled she really was ! Her parents have the money, she makes money strutting around posing for pictures. If her parents didn't have money do you think that she'd be were she is today, I don't think so, she's no M. Streep !!!
