There are two solutions:
1. Technology that allows you to feed more people from same land. It works - all Western countries have laws to limit production of food to prevent prices getting so low that farmers can't make a living anymore.
2. Wars and epidemics (as explained by Maltus 150 years ago). It works that way in Africa now.
Nature adapts itself to the burden. Y do u think the calamities occur?? We should take steps to controll the birth rate & consumption of natural resources. If we can't then be ready to face calamities.
Population growth has always put pressure on the resources. However, negative polpulation growth is also not good for the economy, as can be seen from the woes of many western countries.
There has to be balance and may cross mogration would solve the problem, but territorial rights has been the stumbling blocks for development.
Free world with no borders might help - may be thta's a dream.
Don't worry to death on this account. Nature has its own ways to balance the things through calamities, upheavals and disasters, and earthquakes as it is apparent that mankind is moving in only one upward direction of population explosion.
