The average standard of living is it better in USA than Europe ? Or better in Europe than USA ?

I suppose it also depends where we live exactly...

In both continents, there are very rich places and very poor places...

Answer:
scandinavia > norway, sweden & denmark are extremely rich

actual indicator is ppp > purchasing power parity
gdp per capita income, ppp basis
& eu is marginally higher than usa

does it really matter rich, richer, richest ...
when a third of mankind lives in abject poverty ... going to bed hungry at night !
in europe, they still pay you when your sick from work and your sitting at home watching tv and eating pizza. in america, you have most of your paycheck taken out for taxes, insurance, medical stuff, housing, etc. but i still prefer the united states of america, not to forget to mention that the u.s. has the best colleges and education, we got many jobs open and available, and much more
I can't really say as I've never been to Europe before.
Americans have more disposable income. And a better government structure with less corruption.

Europeans find simple things like showers, large houses, garbage disposals even your own back yard great luxuries.

Even the poor in america have colored tv and larger apartments than the average european.

Social mobility is also much easier in America than Europe.
I would guess that is better in the USA. (I am American), but I wouldn't say that the people here in USA are happier.

Look at Mexico. Most people living there are impoverished, but it is proven that they are the happiest society on the planet.

When I think of standard of living, I think of fresh air, plenty of space, relative safety, and effective sanitation. Good economy, strong community, and non-corrupt police force.
You cannot measure the standard of living with available measures.

You can look at average incomes, and the US comes out ahead. But, then, the average European works fewer hours per week, and enjoys more leisure. This leisure benefit is not captured in the average income statistic. In fact, incomes look lower!

You would need to survey both groups about their happiness rather than their income levels.
USA are richer than Europe, but the average european citizen is richer than the average US citizen
