Why is there so much violance in the world ?

I have a favourite quote from Dr. Isaac Asimov "Violence, is the last refuge of the incompetent.", from this we have to assume that the world is full of people who cannot make a competent decision that doesnt involve violence, however as it has been said. violence is very much a part of the nature of mankind, we are highly competitive as a race, and there will always be those who wish to extend their domain at the expense of others, greed i'm afraid is the root cause of violence, be it a mugging, a drunken beating (the need for dominance) or a war such as the conflict in Iraq right now, greed and power these are the reasons, and while people exist in the world then there will always be victims of these aims.
Because we all want happiness, and we all can't have it at the same time.

There always has been violence in the world, it just not reported as it is now.
I think there's so much violance in the world because when people disagree with eachother they usaully don't talk it out. That causes wars and fights. Also some people are just jealous or just plain crazy
No one can truly answer this question, but I can try ^_^. Violence is written into every strand of DNA. It part of human nature, even if someone does not show it, they are violent, everyone is. There are the few that are raised around parents that do not promote violence, but these few go into the world, and the world being filled violent people, either they learn to survive by being violent, or they just don't make it and probably go mad.

As long as there are humans violence is not far away.
Jealousy and racial hatred breeds violence combined
with religious incitement just speeds it up.

On the other hand, I would hazard a guess and say that there is about the 'average level' of it going on.
An answer could be, 'there are too many people,' and / but, the amount of violence goes up or down proportionately.
You do realise that, before there were people, the amount of violence was probably greater! The number of carnivore's there were had to eat something, and meals didn't just lay down and roll over.
Just watch 'nature' films. There's invariable some beast or another out there watching for a likely meal to wander into its zone of approval.

THere has always been violence all over the world since the beginning of time but it appears more of it because we have so much more information at our fingertips than we had 2000 yeras ago or as little as 30 yeras ago. To get info about world issues we had to purchase a paper 30 years ago - now days we have phone, texts, computer, talking std, faxes, email, as well as carrier pidgeon, smoke signals, notes in bottles etc. We have access to information all over the world now so we are more aware of violence and wars and little issues with fractions etc. it seems there is more voilence in the world but its not.
1-Scarcity or resources.
2-Greediness and selfishness.
