Producer as in the farmer or the manufacturer or the natural resources where the raw materials such as lumber and ore are obtained.

consumer buys the food, producer grows it (farmer)
consumer buys the home, producer builds it (home builder)
consumer buys the dress, producer makes it (textile mill)

for anything that is consumed, someone or something had to produce it.
Nothing can be opposite to it. Because, non-consumers cannot exist physically, and all the others (producers etc.) are consumers in some other way. Par example, You grow things, but You`re unlikely to manufacture You`re own machines, and clothes, and medication, and electricity,. Get it?
The opposite of "consumer" is "supplier".
