We in the uk always send help and money to other countries when they have floods etc .?

will they now help us or are we to snotty to ask,or are we just too helpfull.

Answer:
When you compare what has gone on in the UK in terms of other countries of which we have donated to this is nothing. You can hardly compare flooding to a tsunami.

I have to question the conscience of somebody who behaves like ‘we gave you money, now give us money!’

Does the UK really need money? If so what for? People who buy houses on natural flood plains? Should the developers who build estates on flood plains be brought to justice? Yes, is this the Governments fault? No. Though they could have had more input on where developers actually build to avoid these circumstances, and have more stringent processes as some developers have simply just raised the land of flood plains which just forces the water it into existing housing developments.

In most natural disasters (of which our recent flooding at least on an international scale doesn’t merit the title disaster) there are many deaths, ill funded emergency services, and few if any at all organisations to set up safe shelters (Which is why so many people have flown over there) and help those who can’t go back home find accommodation.

The UK as a whole has fantastic emergency services, fortunately we have not suffered many deaths, and people aren’t starving, dying , and have been moved onto accommodation. There is no ‘international crisis’ so why should any country feel obliged to offer donations to a country that clearly doesn’t need them.

Most people were insured, if they weren’t you have to question why, if they just haven’t bothered, didn’t expect it, tough luck, I don’t think they should get any help, if they haven’t been able to get insurance because no one would insure them, you have to question why they even bought the house in the first place knowing it would have a risk of flooding, naturally help them however, you’d also need to help those who simply chose not to have insurance, because differencing between the two will just waste time, and the regions need to move forward.

How many people in the UK even bothered to donate when Boscastle was flooded terribly? How many people are going to donate to flood hit regions even now? Unless we can do it, why should someone else want to?
Yes - charity begins at home.
We always help those less fortunate than ourselves.
i imagine the British public will help those suffering loss in britian
if they are asked.
We should all have a whip round and give to our own for once - cause they will need it!
good question,i some how think we'll get over looked don't you.
cos the government here are retarded
I think our government is too stubborn to ask other countries but if we ask ourselves we will have enough help from our UK to resolve the issue (well as best as possible anyway)
Local councils have a lucrative council tax scam going

They dont need extra cash
it's that stiff upper lip thing
locally and nationally yes. internationally? never. everybody seems to dislike the uk for some reason. they seem to forget that we too are real people with real lives and real feelings. if uk people refused to help other distressed countries it'd become a nationwide lynching forum and we'd be deemed as racist and selfish. we are a tiny little country in comparison to others and we get bullied a lot. we never stand up for our own rights, we're too busy pandering to everyone elses. i dont mean to sound bigotted or self righteous but arrgggh! sometimes......i consider my goat got.
Will who help you, Why do you need help?I would be happy to help in any way i can.
A bit of both really, but us being the ever resilient we are I'm sure everyone who is affected by the deluge will be there when needed, hell and high water eh?(no pun intended.) We will deal with it like we always do in times of crisis,together.bless-up and my heartfelt condolences to those affected by the weather.and any loss ....."Joe"
According to the CIA 10% of the UK population lives below the poverty line.

We have some serious domestic issues that we need to address before we consider crusading round the world with Team America like some kind of worl police force.

98% of graduare leaving university can't afford to buy a home because of stagnating wages and rising house prices. People are disaffected because minimun wage does not provide the quality of life to motivate the workforce.

The governments answer bring in immigrants employed at the point of source and pay them less than minimum wage.

This country really needs to grab these issues by the scruff of the neck and fast but I have little faith that any political party will do more than provide us with a media circus and meaningless pc crap like Smoking ordanances.
If the goverment had not wasted our tax payer money on Eurovision and the Olympic logo it could have gone towards such " disasters" or even schooling, hospitals, midwives, etc.
