We don't. They are the largest consumers, so equally they should be the largest producers. But they've stripped their lands and polluted their waters for the sake of economic prosperity. Where can we get enough food? THEY are the food!
I FEAR China is in troubles.
They already have the one child rule. China's not the only problem. India is growing faster, and is on pace to surpass China. In fact, the whole world is growing too fast. I think the whole world should institute the one child rule.
China is done a decent job of controlling it's population given it's means and because alot of China is still rural and it's tough to reach and regulate those areas.
As countries prosper, people marry later and have fewer kids. Most of North American and Europe have 0% natural growth rate. China has already implimented the one child policy, that's a decent enough measure; as the country prospers the population growth should meet with western standards.
Countries that should be more concern are India, and most of Africa.
Already they have start taking preventive measures. haven't you saw some chinese government officials took pregnant women out of their village. and did abortion... later they sold the unborn baby to traders who supply foetus to foetus eaters in their nearby countries. all these have been telecasted in a famous news channel man.
Or should Europe, or the US, or Mexico, or South America, or Africa fix their population..I think not..
Our food industries have made it a way of life for people to have as many children as they want. Yes, the earth is overpopulated right now, but will it be better in the future? Unless some traditions are mandated or estopped, their will be a serious problem in the southern border states of US because of illegal immigration. Their culture teaches that the more children one has the better, so better if they cross the border, gain citizenship, and then the whole clan can migrate. Plus, what about the citizens that stay put in Mexico? Their population is ever increasing, as well.
This is not a racist view of Southern Calif, it is the facts, if continued migration and tradition are allowed here then this entire region from the beaches to the Arizona border will be completely populized by the year of 2021. Talk about a huge power bill now, wait until it gets that way.
You are wrong about the projection. China population is expected to peak at about 1.5 billion, up less than 300 million from today, and then start to decline. They have had a very successful population control program for decades. Unless global warming causes problems with their agriculture the can feed themselves.
