What are some of Germany's economic goals?

How is Germany or the German economy different from the United States? How is it similar?

Answer:
social welfare is a main goal of economic policy which means the inequality of income distribution is smaller than in the U.S.. This is reflected in higher labour costs in germany.
Of course, keeping inflation in a normal level (+2%), targeting full employment ( in economic sense around 2 %) and stability and growth of the economy are similary in both countries. But through european integration money issues were solved by the european union central bank and not anymore by germany alone as it is in U.S. by federal bank.
Enterprises and firms have more responsibility to their working force than in U.S., which can be seen in the "Kündigungsschutz" - dissmissing protection. Both economies want to grow and grow and grow...but Germany has to finance a good and beneficial social care system which U.S. have not.
