That absolutely depends where in MD. If you are talking about some of the rural hick areas they can be very low even low 200's. If you are talking about Montgomery County, PG County the single family homes are upwards of 400's and often higher.
The Medium home price in ellicott city/columbia (4th best ranked city in the country) is $329,000.00
Something like a 3 bedroom, 2 bath would cost between $300,000 and $400,000. It also depends on the location. If you want to live on the water (the chesapeake bay) it can go up to $750,000 and above a million. The prices are really rising. These two new houses in my neighborhood cost over 1mil and there probably 3 bedroom. It says their on the water but its only this little creek. Tell me what part of maryland you wanna live and i could probably be more help.

It really depends on what part of Maryland the house would be. Average houses are at least $469,000 and up, some going very high.
