Has the US come far enough beyond Brown v. Board for today's Supreme Court ruling to NOT be damaging?
So, the question is how taxing and erosive will returning to policies of non-inclusion be, when, this time, even allowing for a "Separate and unequal" minority stands to further cripple the viablity of our economy?
Your thoughts?
Answer:
So we are suppose to live in a color blind society, EXCEPT when we are not suppose to.
So we are suppose to treat all people equally, EXCEPT when we are not suppose to .
So we are suppose to judge people by the content of their character and not the color of their skin, EXCEPT when we are not suppose to.
How taxing and erosive will returning to policies of judge first by color and race be to the viability of our economy?
.
The Supreme Courts ruling is arbitrary and capricious given our countries decade old commitment to equality of educational opportunity. Our country, states, counties and school boards are now expected to make an about face on this issue without the benefit of leadership or adequate direction. I think the irresponsible actions of the Supreme Court are simply a supplement to our ailing legislative and executive branches of government. America is stumbling around in the dark trying to find some reason for existence. We need leaders!
I assume that the Supreme Courts decision on "The 5-4 ruling on plans from two major public school districts — in Seattle and Louisville, Ky. — is likely to prompt revisions of similar plans in schools across the country."
The court ruled that the districts needed to show that they considered something other than race to make their juggling / balancing decisions.
Personally, I think that this will not cause terminal problems with the racial balance getting a fair education. I personally believe that our education system needs a lot of help and that includes colleges and universities.
Remember, when you elect a reactionary president of the US you are letting yourself in for appointment of reactionary judges, and frankly this decision is just what the right was looking for. Look for little erosive cases like this, and vote for better quality presidents in the future.
I'm impressed that you noticed and brought it to our attention.
So I am supposed to pay taxes so you can go to school? Freaking commies!!
