Tell me something about merits and demerits of media?

Answer:
Merits..you get news...

Demerits...it is very biased.

Journalist used to report the news,

Now they try to taint it to get more of an audience..

It is not about reporting anymore..it is about ratings, readership!
Depends on what you mean by "media" there.
If you mean "the various methods by which information is transmitted," then I prefer paper, which is non-volatile and allows for careful inspection and preservation of the data transmitted.
If, however, you mean "The Media" as some sort of monolithic information machine out there, you are starting at shadows, chasing ghosts, and generally on a wild goose chase ... there ain't no such animal.
Now, there are large news organizations, but there are also small news organizations. Both are attempting to do the same thing: tell you what's happening.
Some (like Fox News or Tass or the Voice of America) have a very clear policy objective in their selection of what news to tell you, but except in very specific circumstances, most will tell you the facts (just pay no attention to the adjectives and change channels every now and then to get a different perspective).
"The Media," as I said, is an illusion (no matter how often Falwell or Bush uses the term).
But The News is real. It's about facts, and the transmittal of facts. And that is why it is termed "the fourth estate" (to join the classical three: gentry, peasantry and bougouisie), because it is vital, in today's participatory governments, that those who must vote (or riot or revolt or conduct a coup d'etat) must make their decisions on accurate information, or they are just chasing phantoms.
The "Media" is important to the establishment of an informed populace. It is vital to the contuance of democracy (small "d"). That is why would-be tyrants detest "the media" so much, and why the growth of such propaganda-ridden pseudo-news organizations as Fox News is such a threat to the existence of a free society.
After all, if you had your hand in the cookie jar, would you appreciate Walter Cronkite or Wolf Blitzer telling your mom? If you could tell Ben Bradlee or Bob Woodward or Edward R. Murrow what to tell your mom and when, it would be an advantage, come cookie-time, wouldn't it?
A free press is the greatest invention of the modern era and must be protected jealously if it is to survive in the face of the cynical and concerted attacks of evil.
merits: they are giving more informations from states, mistakes of officers, political information, history of lands, development of a country, tempels of olden days, religion search demerits : no demeris
Merit of media is what you learnt and used positively & demrit is what you used negatively
