Can India steal manufacturing jobs from China?
Since China's one-child policy will give them a smaller working force in a few decades, which leads to higher wages, can India younger working force steal the manufacturing jobs from China? Everything in the US is "made from China" could it be "made from India" 20 years down the road?
Answer:
why do u want to manufature plastic toys or clothes chinese produce of any kind is of poor quality im not being racist but a lot of companies go to china to make big bucks and save big bucks its not the chinese peoples fault their produtcs are cheap but the employers fault because the employer supplies the workforce with the cheapest product which by its price is bound to be of cheap quality so for india instead of gettin into such a mess its better for us to be well educated so that will will boost our countries growth further boosting living conditions as well
good point, I never thought of that...but will india have too many young people in 20 years from now? maybe India needs a one child policy too
Lets hope. Chinese quality is poor.
No. Even with its one child policy China's workforce of over a billion people is far too large to overcome for India. Rather, India's prime strength is its source of educated young people who are now performing many outsourcing jobs for the U.S. Things like computer tech support, medical transcription, engineering, etc. So manufacturing is not India's prime goal: their brainpower is. I'm reading a book called "The Earth is Flat" right now which talks about all this. You'd be amazed at the things India is outsourced for. Like: U.S. businessmen are hiring secretaries in India who do their work and then fax or email the results. Because of the time difference, they can do the work while we sleep, and so the work is waiting for our execs and doctors and such when they arrive for work in the morning.
This may already have started happening -- i think in recent times, slowly the contribution of non-software and non-service to indian exports is increasing. Even in China, i heard that jobs are being "outsourced" internally to the northern provinces.
