The US trade balance has been deficit with Japan. Why and what might be done about it?

Why must anything be done about it. So what?
Germany has an overall trade surplus. Its unemployment rate is over 10%. Would you prefer that?
There is nothing inherently wrong with trade deficits. Don't believe all the gloom and doom you hear about trade deficits.

Quit buying foreign goods and particularly Japanese made ones
Buy less from them and sell more to them! Currency revaluation won't work cause they've already done it. The one that's really scary is the deficit with China...much, much more.

Once Bush is voted out of Office.. and after America has the massive recession due.. along with the collapse in the US property market.. you will see that the deficit will start to pull back after that..

All up America should have it's debts paid off by the year 87000..
and have its status restored as the greatest nation on Earth!
