I have to decide between economists?
k, so i have to write a 1000 word essay about the contributions of one of the major economists. but i can't choose which one. should i take adam smith, karl marx, j.m. keynes or someone else. i want it to be simple to write so i don't want it to be someone who's contributed too much. any ideas?
Answer:
I'd pick Adam Smith since his ideas were so foundational. That said, I'd recommend that you do whoever's ideas you relate to best. Have the ideas of one of the economists that you have studied appealed to you more than the others. If so, do your essay on them since if you can relate to them, your essay is bound to be better than if you are doing on someone whose ideas you don't really care about.
Well, it might be harder to get in around 1000 words but I would think for you that Keynes would be the easiest as a lot of modern economics is based of his work.
Here is a good idea - William Philips or Edmund Phelps, the philips curve, that is one particular area of study, and its timely too as as Philips created the curve, and phelps won this years nobel prize for his work to help understand it better.
Milton Friedman. He is very interesting. 1000 word will be no problem.
I second Milton Friedman.
