How can the people of India improve the standards of living of the poor?

Answer:
Open more call centers...Good luck
Start eating cows, instead of praying to them. A thriving cattle industry will expand their entire agricultural system, the backbone of every country's economy.
Isn't everyone poor in India ? They could improve their standard of living by using birth control. You can't expect to improve living conditions when you have a population of over 1 billion people in that small of a country... with more on the way.

Birth control !
That's a very deep question. Might I suggest that the country proceed to encourage businesses to bring jobs there. Since a good number of Indians are educated that doesn't seem to be lacking, but social programs and health education may help. I am not familiar with the country's economics but if they do not have a system in place to help people get jobs, open their own businesses, and education initiatives for the poor; there may not be enough support within the country for poor people to get a leg to stand on which is very sad. I know that HIV/AIDS is rampant in the country and that can contribute drastically to the financial health of the entire country. Maybe something as simple as sex education to curb unwanted pregnancies and help stop the truck drivers from seeking out prostitutes would be beneficial. They've got half of the equation somewhat right if my assumption is correct. It's just without businesses willing to pay money no one can expect to succeed. You have to start somewhere.
from the start, it takes a really competent prime minister who is really dedicated to the welfare of its people
1st step is govt give help to poor people for study
2nd no chance for reservation quota.
3rd no donation in school and collage suppose we go to any school they are demand more money for addmision, that amount is imposible to give for apoor people.
today in govt.school condition is very bad there is no fasility to well study.

not only govt. but also we are also responsible for them.
work to the best extent posssible
yes
start giving from your end feel the need of needy and try to help him as per your capacity
Governments can't do it.
If Ambanis and Amitab Bachhans want poverty to be eradicated from India, yes it is possible.
THEY ARE DOING IT..

And any one who does not agree has to show some data/ observations....if you are making your observations based on the poor on the street then you are so wrong.they are there b,coz they do not want to go away and begging has become a profession..to know more try to interact with the poor...offer them a job which involve hard work.the answer will be no.

As for the poor are concerned ...there is more to it than meets the eye.
India is a complex place, and truth be told it is already getting better, but a few things could make it better faster. Government reforms; The Indian economy is too highly regulated by the government. The public sector needs to take more controll to increase competition and progress faster. Education; education is a necessity. I know Indians are always bragging about thier education system, but in truth, it needs serious improvement, not everything is about IT. Religion; I realise this will never happen, but, poverty and religion mix to create an unfixable static culture. India needs to focus on being a progressive culture and to do so it needs to eliminate it's centuries old superstitions and the best way to do that is to downplay the significance of religion in day to day life.
That's my answer!
It is quite easy. The first step is to adhere to international standard for goverance. Second there must be willingness on the part of polticians, staffs, and common citizen to work together selflessly for making poverty a past phenomena. Finally judiciary must give examplary punishment to corrupt officials.
Majority of the Indian poor live in the rural areas and in slums in the cities.Education is expensive and in many areas schools are unaccessable. Our education system does not help the students to become employable as Vocational training is not given or not enough.
Many adults are illiterates, many are school drop-outs and their lives can be improved in the following manner.
Women and youth should be given Vocational training and skill training so that they become employable or are trained to start their own micro-enterprise.
Then they have to be given micro-credit by banks.( In Tamilnadu Self Help Groups have been given Micro-credit, more than 1000 crores rupees, for starting Micro-enterprises)
Once they are trained and have the seed capital they can start their own business and earn money. This helps to increase their income and reduce the burden on the government also. It increases the purchasing capacity of the poor and helps the industry also. It helps in the growth of national income.
This will help them to become economically and politically empowered. The energy of the youth will be utilised in a proper channel and there will be less crime.

It will help the people to live in dignity and self respect, building better communities with democratic values.
improve the standards of living of the poor when it occured is all the block money kept out side .that is the only way .
