Does it bother anyone else that rich people continue to become richer while slowly making everyone else poor?

For example if I had billions of dollars I could build 12,000 hotels across America, and that would make me even richer. In the meantime it will discourage poor people from building any new hotels because me and my rich friends already have a zillion of them built in that area.

So really are rich people draining society of wealth, particularly if they just keep it locked away in a bank account without even investing or spending it on anything? I can understand having billions coming in if you are giving it back again... but if you just let it rot in a savings account...?

Answer:
You have to remember that self-made rich people become rich from poor people. Poor people spend all of their money on crap that rich people have invented or sold or whatever. Take celebrities for example. They are rich along with movie production companies because the general poor people population spend their money on the movies and souvenir's. People complain because celebrities make tons of money, but if millions of people spend $10 to go see a movie, then they are helping provide their paychecks. And if 20 million people buy a $2 burger at burger king, then that is $40 million dollars going to the company, and the CEO is going to get compensated greatly. And what about starbucks? Howard Shultz, the founder of the coffee chain is a billionaire, because millions of coffee slaves buy his coffee. But we also depend on these people. Like Bill Gates. He is a billionaire because so many people use Windows. I depend on windows everyday, and if it werent for him starting Microsoft, we wouldnt enjoy computers like we can. Bottomline, don't spend money towards people you don't want to be rich. And if you are tired of being poor, (like I am), then try and come up with some great ideas that will sell to millions of people. FTN.
The global elite will be eradicating 5.5 billion uf us soon, so there won't be any poor people left to complain. Go to www.prisonplanet.com to find out more.
yes i think it is quite sad this state of pauperization as Marx put it. the polarization of the classes; the rich getting richer while the poor is getting poorer. and what upsets me is that these people give us a false sense of security that they are doing their part to end world poverty BS! and that they care about the little ppl needs CRAP! and to top it off in general they just blanket us with false class consciouness giving us the illusion that we can move forward...puh-leez!.but i try not to think about it.....lol
I think only poor people feels bothered about it . . . Rich are never rich enough, so they keep getting. And then they die with all those millions and/or billions, with whole life spent on getting it . . .
Poor rich people, they don't have time to see it, in their hunger for more . . .
because when you have money...you want more money...when you don't have any...you don't really miss it all that much...
the government protects rich people because they want them bringing in business so they will continue to be rich...who need the poor to look good
its a common misconception that rich people make society worse off. think about it in simple terms, if a rich person has money he is inevitably going to spend it, if he spends it it means more demand and more demand means more jobs, rich people (clearly not talking about people who have made their money in the black market or the mafia or whatever illegal means) have made their money doing honest work. think about bill gates he is the richest man in the world by miles and what does he do with his extra income?donates it to charity. think about the world if gates wasnt rich how many people wouldnt have jobs.

Clearly though there is a bad side to wealth when you look at all those developing nations with corrupt governments that keep ripping off the people though believe me the money never rots in bank accounts its always spent whether its on something useless or something useful the money is always spent. its not wealth persay that is morally questionable its the means you have used to acquire it.

I mean who has a moral objection to a person that works hard and makes loads of money?and believe me not all rich people are lazy thugs
It is certainly true that the rich are on average getting richer. It is certainly not true that the poor are on the average getting poorer. But it is almost certainly true that the rich are getting better off faster than the poor are.

The 12,000 hotels may employ quite a few lower-income persons. Some poor farmer's worthless piece of land can become gold because it was bought up by the hotel chain.

The stuff that gets squirreled away in the bank gets invested. Bank owners want to get rich too!

In short, everything is connected. In a free market economy, often in a good way. That's way most people on average - rich and poor alike - are getting better off.
People don't become or stay wealthy by keeping their money in a bank account.

Besides, what do you think happens to money in the bank? The bank lends it to other people to build homes, open businesses, etc - so that money is still be used in the economy.

People become wealthy generally by selling something that others value. In other words, they earn it.

So, you open 12,000 hotels across America. Good for me - the traveler. I have more choices on where to stay on my travels.

But having sheer number of hotels doesn't eliminate competition. You still have to provide enough value to get people to choose staying in your hotels over your competitors. And, if you satisfy the customer so much that you are able to keep your competition at bay, then good for you and good for the traveler. You are earning your money and the traveler is pleased with what he is getting in exchange.

But, rest assured, you will have competition. Which is good. That'll keep you on your toes and satisfying your customers. Otherwise, the money you plunked in the hotels will go bye-bye.
Money in savings accounts doesn't just "rot" there. The banks take it out and invest it in things.

"Slowly" making everyone else poor? Some of this getting poor business is not so slow.
