What do you think about generic products...?

Do you think there is a quality drop-off between brand products and generic products?

Do you value you the brand artwork and product style enough to pay the cost difference?

Do you think generic products are just repackaged brand products anyway?

Just curious what people thinks.
kthx.

Answer:
Generic products are great in some cases. But some items you just have to pay the extra money for it.
You can tell the difference in taste and quality on food. There's even generic electronics. Generic everything, even people.
Great question by the way!!
For 'commodity' items, like dishwashing or clothes detergents, I often buy generic brands. For drug and food items, I sometimes buy generic items, taking a bit more care with what I ingest into my body.

In some (not all) cases, generic brands are made in the same factory as the name brands.
I buy them all the time.
Wall mart soda, as an example, is a good as name brands.
You cannot go wrong and save a lot of money at the store.
In many cases generic products are produced by the name brand company and are marked under different names to achieve a wider customer base and increased sales
For the most part they are fine, they are even produced side by side with the brand name in the same plants, I know this to be true since I was there and seen it with my own eyes. Other things like imitation products are a different story and those are actual ripoffs that you should steer clear of, like the watches that are supposed to be a Rolex but they spell it Rolecs you know the ones. Good luck
Some generic products are great with a great price. I could care less about design on the paper towels and things. When it comes to food products I don't care form them to much. We do eat store brands from time to time, not bad. But you have to try many before you find an eatable product. I do read the ingredients and compare them to the name brand product.
As far as household items (cleaners, supplies ) we choose to save money on the house brands. We did blind taste tests on several Walmart food and drink products, to my surprise we .usually preferred the generic WM brand.
Course we have never been accused of having discriminating palates.
most of the brand name is for marketing added value. its like a tube of toothpaste. some cost 99 cents others cost 5 dollars a tube. well id pick a 5 dollar tube than 99 cent cause i dont know what they be cutting out to keep it cheaper. as for cars, like a farrari and a honda civic well 150k of farrari value is marketing gimick. you can add like 25-50k to soop up a honda to like a farrari. i would purchase a soopped up honda than farrari just to save 150k. i could probably make another 3 of those hondas and ride out 20 years vs 5 years for a farrari.
