Clinton had the same policy with the Chinese you know?! Listen to Bill Clinton's remarks on free trade and you will see they are exactly the same. There is a reason why Bill Clinton was considered a centrist right? Do you want whoever the next president is to put up large tariffs against the Chinese or maybe invade them in order to force them to devalue their currency all at once? Seriously, 130 million Chinese still fall below the international poverty line. Last time I checked the savings rate in america was like -1% and that's not the government. There are so many other things to worry about instead of Americans getting cheap goods. It's impossible to be for fighting poverty if you are against certain things. Obviously, if you cut funding for education you aren't for fighting poverty and if you aren't for the importation of cheap goods you aren't for helping to relieve pricing pressures that press on poverty strickin people. Obviously more can be done to combat poverty, but importation of cheaper goods is also essential.
